Welcome to the patient and visitor information pages for the department of respiratory medicine at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Information for clinicians (including referral information) can be found on our clinical services pages.

In addition to general respiratory clinics we provide specialist services including:

Cystic Fibrosis (CF): We are the regional specialist centre for adult care cystic fibrosis (CF) care, providing direct care for adults in Bristol and surrounding areas with CF and supporting shared care services in Bath and Cheltenham
Sleep disorders: We are a regional centre for the investigation and management of sleep related breathing disorders and have a well equipped sleep lab
Home ventilation: We provide a regional non-invasive ventilation service to specialist groups of patients including those with obesity hypoventilation and severe sleep apnoea and with neuromuscular conditions such as muscular dystrophy and motor neurone disease
Tuberculosis (TB): We offer a Bristol-wide service for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of TB. The clinic provides ongoing support to patients with TB and also offers vaccinations for the prevention of TB
Occupational lung disease: We care for asbestos workers and for patients with lung disorders induced by work, in the only occupational lung disease clinic in the south west region
Difficult asthma: A combined consultant and nurse-led clinic looks after patients with poorly controlled asthma
Lung cancer: An experienced multi-disciplinary team consisting of chest physicians, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and specialist nurses provides rapid diagnosis and treatment of those with suspected lung cancer, supporting them every step of the way
Bronchiectasis: We have a nurse- and physiotherapist-led clinic supporting patients with bronchiectasis
Respiratory "Hot" clinic: We offer a rapid-access admission avoidance clinic five days a week
Respiratory Measurement Service: Our well equipped laboratories provide state of the art respiratory function testing
