University Hospitals Bristol is committed to providing excellent
patient care, education and research. The Trust's clinical
priorities are in cancer care, children's services, cardiac disease
and acute services; therefore much of our research activity is
focused in these areas.
Last year around 600 research studies took place in the Trust,
leading to the publication of over 500 papers in prestigious
journals.
Research is essential if we are to be successful in promoting
and protecting health and well-being and provide modern and
effective health and social care services.
Many Trust staff carry out and support research, but without
patients volunteering to take part, much of this research could not
go ahead. If you are a patient at one of our hospitals it is quite
possible you may be asked to take part in a research study.
