A new midwifery-led birthing unit has been officially opened at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol by everyone's favourite mum, the actress Lynda Bellingham. The new unit will open to patients on Monday 17 June and will offer mums-to-be a safe alternative to giving birth in a traditional hospital setting or at home. The birthing unit will be suitable for women with uncomplicated pregnancies who wish to give birth in a home from home, non-medical environment.

Anyone who is suffering from a life threatening injury or illness should not delay coming to A&E. However if you are suffering from minor injuries, such as sprains and strains, there are others services you can visit.

Visiting hours at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Heart Institute have changed in response to feedback from patients and their families. Visiting is now from 2pm – 8pm every day giving visitors more time to spend with their loved ones.
