Primary Care Dental Service (PCDS)
COVID-19 information
Update October 2020
As we enter the Autumn and Winter period, we would like to
provide you with a little update regarding our service and
operational sites.
During the Spring and Summer months of 2020, the Primary
Care Dental Service was unable to offer routine appointments to our
patients as during this time our team provided an urgent dental
care service for those most in need across the Bristol and Bath
areas. This was a very busy time for the service, and the team
worked incredibly hard to provide the best possible care to all
those patients most in need.
As we progress through the year, we have seen the
reopening of many general dental practices in the area. These GDPs
have begun to welcome back patients for face to face assessments
and treatments, and whilst we continue to support urgent dental
care needs, we have recently been able to reopen two more of our
designated community sites - Southmead Health Centre, and Yate
Health Centre - to increase the amount of appointments we can offer
our own community based patients throughout the week.
In order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients
and staff across the service, we are continuing to prioritise
patients on a clinical basis whilst scheduling appointments up to
two weeks in advance. Our friendly team are contacting patients
when an appropriate appointment is available, but if there are any
queries or concerns regarding a patient's oral health then we can
be contacted - we are happy to offer advice and where
appropriate will schedule an appointment with one of our dedicated
team members.
Whilst we are working hard to arrange appointments at our
operational sites, we are not able to visit patients at home at
this time. If you, a family member or resident
need urgent dental care
which would normally be assessed at home, please contact us to
discuss.
