TYA Services South West
The six designated hospitals across the South West have staff
and services specifically for TYA cancer patients.
TYA Lead Clinician: Grant Stewart

Facilities
Adult: Lowen Ward is the adult haematology and oncology ward. It
has two side rooms and a quiet room that has been equipped
especially for TYA patients. Similarly the Headland Day Unit, a
purpose built outpatient chemotherapy unit, has two side rooms that
are age appropriate.
Paeds: Sennen ward has four individual cubicles and an adjoining
adolescent unit where there is a day/activity room open to all
teenage patients.
The Cove Macmillan Support Centre opened in October 2016 and has
dedicated TYA area, including small garden and chill out space.

Facilities
Adult and Paeds: TYA patients are offered single (not
guarenteed), private rooms for treatment on Oak (paediatric), Ward
9 (haematology) and Beacon Ward (oncology) for inpatients and Oak
and the Beacon Centre for outpatients. Four inpatient rooms on Ward
9 have 'wall landscaping' to appeal to TYA but are not
exclusive.

Facilities
Adult: The Gloucestershire Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General
Hospital. Specific waiting area for TYA.
Paeds: Children's Centre at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Inpatient
and outpatient treatment is given in the dedicated oncology unit,
away from the main children's ward.

Facilities
Adult: Patients receive care on Brent or Bracken Wards and when
possible, this is provided in a private single room in partnership
with Teenage Cancer Trust. TYA age appropriate improvements have
been implemented in both in and out patient areas.
Paeds: Patients receive care in the Children's & Young
Peoples Outpatient Department (CYPOD) or on Wildgoose Ward.

Adult: Age appropriate inpatient in both Adult Oncology and
Haematology
Paeds: Two designated TYA inpatient rooms are available on
Bramble ward in the Paediatric unit.

Facilities
Adult: The Dyson Cancer Centre opened in April 2024, bringing
cancer services in Bath under one roof. The state-of-the-art
medical equipment and beautiful artwork combined create a modern
but nurturing and therapeutic environment that is appropriate and
comfortable for TYA cancer patients.
Paeds: Paediatric oncology shared care team in collaboration
with the Paediatric PTC team offer two private en-suite rooms with
adjacent sitting room for TYA use.
