What do we do?

The aim of the HMS service is to provide dietetic support and advice to help you manage your tube feeding at home.

Your Dietitian is responsible for advising the correct type and amount of feed to meet your nutritional requirements. They will devise a feeding programme to meet your nutritional needs, taking into consideration your personal values, beliefs and lifestyle. Your Dietitian will order your feed without the need for a GP prescription.

Our service covers Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We can visit you at the most appropriate community setting e.g. home, respite, day-care, nursery, school, college, playgroup etc., please let us know and we will try to arrange visits where it is convenient.

Please contact your Dietitian if you have any questions in relation to your feed, feeding program or experience any complications as a result of feeding.

We currently work in partnership with Nutricia to provide the tube feeding service.

Nutricia Nurses

The Nutricia Homeward Enteral Nurse Specialists have the skills to provide reassurance and support to people who tube feed. Their aim is to ensure that people become confident in managing safely and independently at home

  • The Nurses provide training to support safe and speedy hospital discharges.
  • They provide regular reviews and troubleshooting advice to help prevent any unneeded hospital stays including tube changes.
  • Education is also provided to healthcare professionals and agency staff to keep them up to date with the latest clinical evidence/best practise/safe practise related to tube feeding.

There is an out of hours advice line which offers telephone support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is supported by qualified nurses.

Nutricia Homeward

The Nutricia Homeward service includes:

  • Delivery of tube feeds, feeding pumps and all feeding equipment directly to homes by dedicated, trained delivery drivers
  • A dedicated team of Nutricia Homeward Patient Coordinators who complete monthly telephone calls to check stock levels and ensure timely delivery of supplies.
