Professional profile/background:

I work as a Consultant Cardiologist at University Hospitals Bristol in the United Kingdom. I am a Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at the University of Bristol.
I trained at Cambridge University and qualified in 1992. I undertook cardiology specialist training in the South West and spent 2 years of research into heart failure at Cardiff and Oxford publishing a number of papers. I moved to Adelaide in Australia in 2004 as a Consultant Cardiologist and Senior Lecturer returning to Bristol in 2006 as a Consultant Cardiologist.
My time is split between looking after cardiology patients with heart failure, high blood pressure and valve problems and undertaking research in these areas.
As part of the Bristol CardioNomics Group, I am actively involved in clinical trials looking at new treatments for resistant hypertension and heart failure. I have published a number of key papers in these areas.
