Alright My Liver


Alright my Liver are part of an NHS pilot aiming to identify and help people with uhnknown liver disease. We carry out targetted screening for people at risk of liver disease, using a FibroScan machine.

Risk factors for liver disease include;

- Metabolic Factors:  ('Fatty' Liver, Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity - BMI over 30)

- Blood Borne Virus (Past or current history of Hepatitis B or Hep C)

- Alcohol excess especially over 30 units per week (no amount of alcohol is safe but recommended should be no more than 14 units per week spread over several days)


Before dropping in at an event, please read below;

 

  • We would be grateful if you could email us on; alrightmyliver@uhbw.nhs.uk to find out about availability of a drop in screening before turning up, so that we can roughly plan to capacity.

 

  • Please also note that GP Practice screenings are generally for patients registered at that Practice, contact us for more information on this.

 

  • During a screening we will ask a set of screening questions looking at your risk factors for liver disease, only those who meet criteria will be able to be offered a FibroScan.

 

  • Wr are unlikely to be able to screen anyone again who has received a FibroScan through the pilot in the last 3 years, please email us to find out more.

 

  • Plese note that due to the nature of a drop-in session, we are unable to guarentee waiting times, however we aim to see everybody as quickly as possible.

 

  • If you are able to fast for 3 hours prior to being seen, that is better for the accuracy of the FibroScan.
