What can we offer you?
Pay and Annual Leave
Like the rest of our benefits, all our pay and leave structures
for the different groups of staff are in line with national
guidelines and policy. If you are applying for a non-medical post,
you will hear the term 'Agenda for Change', which was the pay and
conditions structure introduced in 2004.
Here are full details of our pay rates:
Pensions
All our staff are entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme, which includes life
insurance and ill health retirement benefits. We also offer
opportunities for flexible retirement, enabling staff to step down
to fewer hours or to work flexibly after retirement, without
affecting their pension entitlement.
Other staff benefits
We're family friendly
We operate a full range of family friendly policies, including
generous maternity and paternity entitlements. Our work/life
balance commitment offers a whole series of policies that cover a
wide range of staff needs. Guidelines on maternity or adoption
arrangements, parental leave, partner leave and special leave are
all included. There's also a Childcare Voucher Scheme enabling you
to save tax and national insurance contributions on the costs of
your childcare. Our dedicated and experienced Childcare
Co-ordination team provide a wide range of childcare options and
advice to help you balance work and family commitments. We even
have a contracted, 45 place nursery close to the main hospital site
and run by a highly experienced team who look after children from
six weeks to five years. Flexible hours cater for staff working
shifts, while a holiday play scheme looks after school age children
between four and eleven during school holidays.
We're flexible
Even if you don't have a family, you may well benefit from our
support of flexible working patterns, including options to work
flexi-time, part time hours, job share and term time working.
We're green
We have number of initiatives aimed at helping our staff get to
work without bringing their cars. There's HUBS - a free bus
jointly funded with Bristol University - and a Lift Share
Club. Or, if you'd rather get here on two wheels, choose from free
motor bike parking, membership of SMUG - our motor bike users group
- or BUGS - our bike users group, - and use of the secure cycle
centre with showers.
We're sporty
You and your family and friends will have access to squash
courts on the main hospital site, as well as a range of discounts
for membership at local gym/health clubs.
We're healthy
As part of our commitment to promoting, maintaining and
improving the physical and mental wellbeing of our staff, we offer
occupational health, counselling and physiotherapy services, as
needed. We also have a team of chaplains, providing pastoral and
spiritual support to all staff, whatever their beliefs and views.
Quiet rooms are available in all our hospitals.
We can save you money
We've negotiated a range of discounts
with local service providers and retailers, meaning you get great
deals on anything from holidays to hairdressing and from insurance
to theatre tickets.
