Phillip Schofield visits ICU

1We celebrated the hard work, dedication and outstanding care and compassion of the staff and volunteers who work in our intensive care unit (ICU).

This was a really special event for us here at the Trust and we were delighted to welcome Phillip Schofield to unveil the new artwork that has been installed around the area.

Phillip's brother, Tim, was treated in our intensive care unit and his family have always stayed in touch with the staff who cared for him while he was there.

Phillip Schofield said: "My family and I were thrilled to be there to see the staff who took such good care of Tim while he was in hospital and to unveil the lovely new artwork. We are grateful for the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for all the amazing work the intensive care unit staff have done and continue to do."

Rebecca Russell, intensive care unit senior staff nurse, said: "Patients who are treated in the ICU are often in hospital for long periods of time and, along with their friends and family members who visit, get to know our staff well. We are honoured to have Tim, Phillip and their family pay us a visit last week and help us launch the lovely new artwork in our corridor."

We are so grateful to all of the local artists who kindly donated their work to this project and we also owe a huge thank you to the Organ Donation Fund who covered the printing and installation of the artwork.

The colourful artwork will provide a warm and comforting feel to an area that can inevitably be a worrying place for patients and their family, friends and loved ones.
