Patient and Public Involvement

Patients and Public Involvement (PPI)

Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPI/E) is integral to the work of the NIHR Bristol BRC. We will ensure we ask patients and the public to advise us on what research we should do, how we should do it and what we should do with the findings: setting research agendas, designing studies, communicating with the public, and overseeing the BRC and research within it.

You can see an example of our public involvement work here.

Our PPI and PPE team work very closely with People in Health West of England a group who help patients and the public get involved in research across many different centres and institutions in the region. If you would like to get involved in the research of the NIHR Bristol BRC, please contact Mike Bell. An example of how we work in partnership to provide public involvement training can be found here.

Our strategy

In January 2018, our Public involvement team, in collaboration with our group of public contributors, developed the Bristol BRC Patient and Public Involvement strategy.  Our vision situates public involvement at the heart of health research at the Bristol BRC. Read the strategy
