Hearing appointments

These are the types of hearing appointments that we offer. You can access further information about each appointment if you click on the patient information sheets.

Hearing assessment

For patients who have been referred for a hearing assessment by their GP. This appointment is for an assessment of hearing levels and individual needs. A full history will be taken and a hearing test will be carried out. Further tests may also be carried out if appropriate.

Hearing aid fitting

For new or current patients who have had an assessment/reassessment, and have agreed with their Audiologist to have hearing aids fitted. A hearing aid or hearing aids will be fitted and instructions will be given on how to use, as well as how to adapt to wearing them.

Hearing aid first follow-up

For patients who have had hearing aids fitted (1-2 months ago) and have agreed with their Audiologist that they would benefit from a face-to-face follow up to check on their progress.

Annual hearing aid aftercare appointment

An annual appointment required for the service of hearing aids (which have been provided by our department).

Repair appointment

For patients who require the repair or service of their hearing aids (which have been provided by our department) or for guidance/advice on managing hearing aids.

3 year review

For patients who were assessed and fitted with a hearing aid by us over 3 years ago. Hearing aids will be serviced and a screening hearing test will be carried out to establish whether there has been a significant change in hearing.

1 year review

For patients who had a 3 year review a year ago and their hearing had not changed significantly since their previous assessment. Hearing aids will be serviced and a screening hearing test will be carried out to establish whether there has been a significant change in hearing.

Hearing reassessment and fitting

For patients who have a hearing aid previously fitted by us, have had a 3 year review and their hearing has changed significantly since their previous assessment. During this appointment patients' hearing levels will be fully assessed and they will be fitted with hearing aids if appropriate.  Instructions will be given on how to use them.
