Arts programme
Hello, I'm Ruth Jacobs, Arts
Coordinator at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. It's my job
to put in place an inspiring and imaginative arts programme for the
benefit of all children who come here, their families, and staff,
and to help ensure the hospital environment is welcoming, positive
and stimulating.
That includes commissioning new art works and exhibitions, and
inviting suitable artists in to lead a range of creative activities
and workshops with children, families and staff.
Over the last year children have
entered drawing competitions, made masks, puppets and jewellery out
of recycled materials, painted a mini-gorilla as part of Bristol
Zoo's Wow Gorillas! Project, and created a fabulous fantasy
rainforest for it to live in. In many instances children's art is
exhibited temporarily; sometimes it contributes towards permanent
new art installations for the Hospital.

The Arts Programme is funded by
charitable donations through Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal,
which provides arts, education, equipment and other facilities not
provided by the NHS.
