Bristol General Hospital is a rehabilitation hospital for the
elderly and stroke patients which opened in 1832. Initially when
the hospital opened it only took patients from Bristol, but in 1850
it started taking people from outside Bristol. Today we mainly
treat patients from Bristol and North Somerset.
We currently have 77 in-patient beds which are made up with a
Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, one side for male and the other for
female patients, together with Brunel Ward (male), Redcliffe
(female) and Hare Ward (female). The outpatient facilities include
clinics, physiotherapy services and the William Lloyd Unit which
provides a day assessment service for elderly people. There is also
a sleep unit clinic and sleep studies department serving a wider
population in the South West.
Visiting hours are Monday - Friday, afternoon 2:00 -
3:00pm and evening 6:30 - 8:00pm.
Saturday/Sunday and bank holidays, afternoon 2:00 -
