Supporting your centre

Bristol shows it cares a thousand times over!

More than a thousand former patients have helped us to raise the £1.6 million needed to transform the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre.  A year ago Above & Beyond launched the CaRE Appeal to raise a total of £1.6m for the project and the response has been overwhelming.

As well as sending in donations, people have abseiled off of tall buildings, ran marathons, cycled 250 miles across some of the South Wests toughest terrains and organized cake sales to help us reach our target. Because of these amazing people, the transformation of the outpatients department, reception area, radiotherapy department, patient information services and stairwells can now be enjoyed by patients and staff.

If you would like to help make a difference contact Above & Beyond on 0117 927 7120 or visit www.aboveandbeyond.org.uk.

Volunteering

The contribution that volunteers make to our services is invaluable to us and our patients. The gift of a few hours can transport our patients' experience whilst they are with us, and we're always keen to bring more aboard! If you would like to know more about becoming a volunteer please contact Glennie Derrick on 0117 342 2774 or find out more about volunteering here.

We are particular keen to hear from anyone who could spare some time to be one of our voluntary drivers. A car is provided.

The Friends of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre

FriendsThe Friends of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre is a registered charity supporting the centre. The Friends were founded in 1972 and have been important in helping the centre to be a leading and innovative centre, making life for patients more interesting and comfortable. They have three main aims: supporting patients, supporting innovation and supporting research. Over the years they have bought many scientific, technical and nursing items, and have funded amenities which contribute towards the comfort of patients. See some of the Friends' donations.

Fundraising is ongoing, as a large proportion of the investment income is already committed and new equipment is always needed. Flag days and fundraising events are held throughout the year. The Friends welcome donations that enable them to continue fulfilling their aims and objectives.

For further information, please feel free to drop in to the Friends Office in the main reception area of the BHOC or call 0117 342 3432. If you want to make a donation to the Friends you can now give online through Just Giving.
