What are Psychological Health Services

PHS What We Do - Copy

Many people experience emotions such as stress, worry, anger, frustration, and sadness when they are attending hospital. Difficult thoughts and emotions can have a big impact on our lives.

Psychologists work with you, your family, and your team to understand some of the difficulties you may be facing and come up with strategies to try and help. If you meet a member of our team, you will be given a safe space to talk about what is important to you. Children, young people, adults and their families often talk to us about:

Coping with procedures and treatments both in and out of hospital

Managing difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviours relating to a health condition or treatment

Improving communication between families, carers, and staff teams
