The Mbarara Links
Programme is a charity that supports University Hospitals Bristol
NHS Foundation Trust staff to help improve healthcare for some of
the worlds poorest people and make a contribution to global health
by sharing our skills overseas.
The programme links us with Mbarara Regional Hospital
in South West Uganda and helps to improve healthcare in Uganda by
our staff sharing their skills with staff in Mbarara University
Hospital.
The project is funded through charitable grants and donations
from our staff and their friends. We rely entirely on
donations to support training and development, mentorship,
educational supervision or placements for training in the UK for
staff in Mbarara.
What is important now is to improve on the level of trained
personnel for healthcare in Uganda. These links help us to retain
our own people, who in the past have left and never come
back.
