Robert Woolley Chief Executive of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children said: “I was very disappointed by the CQC's findings following its inspection of one of our wards in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, the paediatric cardiac ward. No family should leave the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children believing that we did not provide the best care possible for their child. I am deeply concerned that some families believe that we have let them down and will continue to ensure that we address their concerns and bring forward our plans to develop a high dependency unit.”  Read More

HELP Appeal supports construction of new helipad at Bristol Royal Infirmary

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UH Bristol) and the Helicopter Emergency Landing Pads (HELP) Appeal will be working in partnership to develop an onsite helipad at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), which will open in 2014. A grant of £500,000 has been provided by the HELP Appeal to support the helipad’s construction - part of a major redevelopment at the BRI.   Read More

New study reveals the benefits of Alexander Technique Lessons for chronic pain

Chronic pain sufferers may benefit from learning the Alexander Technique in NHS outpatient pain clinics according to a new service evaluation project. More than half of the service users in the study stopped or reduced their use of medications between the start of the lessons and three months, making cost savings to the NHS.  Read More
