Public Sector Equality Duty Report
The Equality Act 2010 requires the Trust to publish
information annually about its systems and processes for
promoting Equality and Diversity. This page contains
our first report of this 'Specific Duty' for January
2012.
It summarises the key information we have on our
workforce, our patients and the public and gives an overview of
our current Equality and Diversity work across the
organisation. As both our patients and staff become more diverse,
we need to ensure our care, our services and the
workplace are organised sensitively.
Key findings:
- Only 11% of Trust staff are under 25.
- Under 3% of Trust staff report a disability - though the true
figure may be as high as 18%.
- 23% of Trust staff are from black or minority ethnic (BME)
background.
- BME staff are under represented in higher pay bands.
- Just 1% of staff identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual (LGB).
The national average is about 5%.
We are currently running a dedicated training
sessions for members of staff in the Trust - The Equality Act for
Managers. To book a place please contact Yvonne
Quinn. For more information about the
course please contact Andrew May
